Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Guideline

Pre-Operative Checklist:

Proper Patient Selection
Proper referral protocol to include: (For outside referring doctors)
1. Inclusion of "Notice of referral" in most recent PR-2 report (W/C).
2. Send copy of records and radiographs to evaluating doctor
  (Staff member may act as office contact to minimize time requirement of
referring doctor)
Patient Education and Informed Consent (patient signature required).
Chiropractic History and Physical.
Medical History and Physical (including anesthesia clearance).
Acquisition of any necessary special tests:
MRI
EKG
SE-CPT
EMG
Pulmonary Function
Laboratory Tests
Obtain Pre-MUA capacity measurements from Gary Lindahl, RPT.
(If possible)
Obtain Pre-MUA capacity measurements from Gary Lindahl, RPT.
(If possible)
Obtain authorization for post-MUA Super/Slow with Gary Lindahl, RPT
(W/C patients only)
Completion by Doctor of Patient Information and Treatment Goals form.

Post-Operative Checklist:
Distribute General Post-Operative Instruction form to patient. Include home stretching instructions.
Schedule patient for initiation of post-MUA treatment protocol.
Weeks one and two: 3 treatments per week to include spinal manipulative therapy and MUA stretches.
Weeks three and four: 3 treatments per week as above. Also, initiate strengthening and stabilization program such as Super-Slow Program.

Weeks five through eight: 2 treatments per week and continued strengthening program.
